[CJ] Putaway Rule Fit by Height Configuration Manual

Creation date: 20/11/2023 14:10    Updated: 20/11/2023 14:10   cj fit by height height configuration putaway rule

1     Criteria for putaway location

These are all the criteria that needed to fulfill to be able to putaway for the specific location and enabling height calculation:

1) Package size UOM area should be <= Available location size area

2) Package size UOM length & width <= Location length & width

3) Package size UOM height <= Available location height

4) SKU area <= Location area

5) SKU length & width <= Location length & width

6) PLT_CNT is set to ‘N’

2     Scenario 1: Correct results (New configuration)

Scenario 1: Correct results (New configuration):

Receiving quantity             : 40 CS (40CS * 12QTY = 480QTY = 1 PL)
Package size UOM CS       : 56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0 (L x W x H)
Package size UOM PL       : 100 x 100 x 105 (L x W x H)
TI x HI                                  : 8 x 5
PLT_CNT                             : N
Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

Since the PLT_CNT value is ‘N’, it will enable height calculation.

Receiving 40 CS (= 1 Pallet):

Package size UOM PL       : 100 x 100 x 105 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

If receiving 40CS, it is a full pallet, therefore the system will refer to package size UOM PL’s height. When the Package size UOM PL is set to 100 x 100 x 105 (L x W x H), it does NOT assign to A46-02-053, which is CORRECT, because the location’s height is only 100.

To further test it, we set the package size PL’s height to 100 and 95, and both results are CORRECT, assigning the pallet to A46-02-053, because the location’s height is 100.

Package size UOM PL       : 100 x 100 x 100 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

Package size UOM PL       : 100 x 100 x 95 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

Receiving 39 CS:

Package size UOM CS       : 56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

If receiving 39CS, it is not a full pallet, therefore the system will refer to package size UOM CS (56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0) instead of PL. The location will not be able to receive 39CS quantity because the configured height of CS is 100, and TI x HI = 8 x 5, so there will be 5 layers of CS, which means 39CS height = 100*5 = 500, while the desired location height is only 100.

The system does not assign to the location A46-02-053, which is CORRECT.

Receiving 41 CS (= 1 Pallet & 1CS):

Package size UOM CS       : 56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0 (L x W x H)

Package size UOM PL       : 100 x 100 x 105 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

If receiving 41CS, it is a full pallet and a case, therefore the system will refer to package size UOM PL’s height and CS’s height. When the Package size UOM PL is set to 100 x 100 x 105 (L x W x H) and package size UOM CS is set to 56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0 (L x W x H), the 1 CS will be assigned to location A46-02-053, which is CORRECT. The 1 PL will not be assigned to the location A46-02-053, which is also CORRECT because of 1PL’s height exceeded the location height.

3     Scenario 2: Wrong results (Current configuration)

Receiving quantity             : 40 CS (40CS * 12QTY = 480QTY = 1 PL)
Package size UOM CS       : 56.4 x 23.0 x 100.0 (L x W x H)
Package size UOM PL       : 0 x 0 x 0 (L x W x H)
TI x HI                                  : 8 x 5
PLT_CNT                             : Y
Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

Since the System Config “PLT_CNT” is set to value ‘Y’ and the package size OUM PL is 0 x 0 x 0, the system will not be calculating the height correctly.

Receiving 40 CS (= 1 Pallet):

PLT_CNT                             : Y

Package size UOM PL       : 0 x 0 x 0 (L x W x H)

Desired location               : A46-02-053 (120 x 100 x 100)

If receiving 40CS, it is a full pallet, therefore the system will refer to package size UOM CS instead of PL. The location will not be able to receive 40CS quantity because the configured height of CS is 100, and TI x HI = 8 x 5, so there will be 5 layers of CS, which means 40CS height = 100*5 = 500, while the desired location height is only 100.

However, the system suggests fitting the 40CS into the location A46-02-053, which is WRONG.

Receiving 39 CS:

If receiving 39CS, it is not a full pallet, therefore the system will refer to package size UOM CS instead of PL. In actual situation, it will not be able to receive 39CS quantity because the configured height of CS is 100, and TI x HI = 8 x 5, so there will be 5 layers of CS, which means 39CS height = 100*5 = 500, while the desired location height is only 100.

However, the system suggests fitting the 39CS into the location A46-02-053, which is WRONG.

4     Scenario 3: Modification of current configuration to new configuration

These are some of the modifications need to be made on current configuration:

1) PLT_CNT

Under System Config, PLT_CNT must be set to ‘N’ to enable the height calculation.

2) Pallet information is missing in package master

As configured 40 CS = 1 filled Pallet, so this pallet dimension information in the package master must be filled.

3) Location dimension

EG: In package master, the CS height is configured 100.

When the receive unit input is 39CS, since the TI x HI = 8 x 5, therefore the location height must be configured to height 100*5 = 500 to be able to putaway 39CS.

However, when the received unit input is 40CS, it is a full pallet, therefore it will automatically refer to PL dimension and PL dimension must be configured in advance.

In this case, if package size UOM PL’s dimension is set to 500, the location height must be set to 500 as well to be able to fit in the location.
